After 20 years releasing records, most recently on his own critically acclaimed ClearSkyz label, Bristol Drum N’ Bass pioneer Dj Die has decided that 2011 is the time to launch his new ‘Gutterfunk’ imprint. Brewing since 2004 this multi genre label is an outlet for genre defying productions and collaborations, as well as a platform to push the new talent.
The much in demand Mensah, having released the hugely well received Untitled Future Funk EP on HENCH last year, followed by a slew of main room burning remixes. He once again comes correct for the first Gutterfunk release. Stepping up with a seriously sleazy homage to a classic electro track, forget that flaccid electro house that saturates the dance charts, this is the real deal. Mensah’s outstanding interpretation of a seminal 1980s B-boy electro tune, brought bang up to date and ready for the main room by his solid production techniques, filled with all the grit and attitude of the original 1980s sound.
